Letter from the CoTESOL President

On behalf of the CoTESOL Board of Directors, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to our 48th Annual Fall Convention! This year’s theme, “Empowering Educators, Inspiring Learners,” reflects the incredible work our profession continues to do in welcoming multilingual learners to Colorado and helping them thrive in their new communities.

We recognize that this is a challenging time for many in our field. Amidst the uncertainty, it is more important than ever that we come together—to learn from one another, to share encouragement, and to strengthen the support we provide our students. Education is the foundation of democracy, and educators are its heroes.

This year, the CoTESOL Board voted to reinvest revenue from the Fall Convention directly into professional development and scholarships for teachers. We know that funding challenges persist, and we remain deeply committed to supporting educators of multilingual learners across our state in every way we can.

The CoTESOL Fall Convention offers a special opportunity to connect with colleagues across educational settings, exchange ideas, and be inspired by both local and national leaders in the field. We are honored to host an outstanding lineup of Keynote and SIG Featured Speakers, as well as educators from Colorado and beyond who have generously volunteered to share their expertise. We are also grateful to our exhibitors from across the country who bring valuable resources and materials to support our shared mission.

For attendees seeking Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) professional development credits for CDE K–12 teacher license renewal, please refer to the CDE CLDE PD Credit page. All attendees will also receive a general attendance certificate following the convention. Be sure to watch your email after the event for a brief post-convention survey—we value your feedback and your nominations for the “Best of CoTESOL 2025” award.

Special thanks go to the members of the 2024–2025 CoTESOL Board for their tireless dedication in planning, organizing, and volunteering at this year’s convention. It has been an absolute privilege to serve alongside this remarkable group of educators who give their time and talents to strengthen our community.

I hope these next few days bring you renewed inspiration, meaningful connections, and a sense of hope that carries forward into your classrooms and schools. Thank you for being here and thank you for the extraordinary work you do every single day. CoTESOL sees you, and we appreciate you.

With gratitude,
Chantelle Sharbino
2025 CoTESOL President
