About me
Gerardo Muñoz is a retired Denver Public Schools educator and 2021 Colorado Teacher of the Year. He taught secondary social studies with a focus on Ethnic Studies, World History, and Student Voice and Leadership. Born and raised in Denver's East Side, Gerardo is well-known in educational justice and equity circles. A PhD candidate at the University of Denver, He is a teacher, author, scholar, podcaster, and independent journalist looking to remix the work for communities of color in schools. He is working on his dissertation, as well as two books: one a picture book and the other on his theories of social justice work.
